Purpose

To ensure the dishwasher front panel is correctly integrated into the cabinet opening, maintaining uniform gap tolerances (±1/16″), correct vertical/horizontal level, and smooth door travel. This check prevents finish damage, binding, and callbacks.

Scope

Applies to all integrated and panel-ready dishwasher installations where a customer or factory-supplied decor panel is mounted to the dishwasher door. Covers pre‑fit verification, bracket installation, panel alignment, final torque, and functional door test. Does not cover electrical or plumbing connections.

Safety Precautions
  • LOTODisconnect dishwasher from electrical supply before removing any covers or accessing mounting points. Lockout/Tagout per CSA Z460.
  • PPEWear cut‑resistant gloves when handling metal panels and safety glasses during drilling/screw driving. Use hearing protection if using impact tools in a confined shop area.
  • SLIPKeep the work area dry and free of tools or packing materials to prevent trips while carrying panels.
Required Tools & Materials
  • Measuring tape (graduated 1/16″ increments)
  • Torpedo level (magnetic base)
  • Screwdriver set: Phillips #2, flathead 3/16″
  • Torque wrench (in‑lb, range 5–40 in‑lb)
  • Panel alignment jig or spacer set (optional)
  • Felt pads / shim stock (0.5 mm and 1 mm)
  • Microfiber cloth (to protect panel surface)

Procedure: Step-by-Step
1 Verify Panel Dimensions. Measure the panel width, height, and thickness. Compare to the cabinet opening specs. Tolerance: ±1/16″ on width and height. Record measurements.
2 Check Cabinet Opening Geometry. Use the level to confirm the opening is plumb and level. Measure diagonals (must be within 1/8″). Shim the dishwasher body if necessary before proceeding.
3 Install Mounting Brackets. Attach the supplied metal brackets to the rear of the panel using the provided screws. Torque to manufacturer spec (typically 10–15 in‑lb). Do not over-torque.
4 Position Panel in Opening. Carefully place the panel onto the dishwasher door clips. Align the top edge with the adjacent cabinet door or drawer front. Use the level on the panel face — adjust brackets as needed.
5 Secure Panel. Using a cross‑pattern sequence, drive the final mounting screws through the door into the panel bracket. Tighten to final torque: 20–25 in‑lb. Wipe any residue with a microfiber cloth.
6 Measure Gap Uniformity. Check all four sides — the gap between panel and cabinet should be even within 1/16″. Use spacer strips or shims behind the brackets to adjust if needed.
7 Final Functional Test. Open the dishwasher door fully — verify smooth travel with no binding or rubbing. Close and check latch alignment. Re‑level if the door sags. Sign off on the checklist.
