Material Overview & Common Uses
ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is a versatile, impact-resistant thermoplastic widely used in Canadian fabrication shops for thermoforming, CNC routing, and vacuum forming. It offers excellent toughness, good dimensional stability, and a smooth, matte finish that paints and bonds well. Common applications include: automotive interior trim panels, protective enclosures, jigs and fixtures, prototype housings, signage, and recreational vehicle components. ABS is preferred over PVC for applications requiring higher impact strength and over polypropylene for better paint adhesion and solvent bonding.

Note: Avoid lubricants containing silicone or petroleum distillates — they can cause stress cracking.

QC Protocol: Visually inspect 100% of incoming sheets; measure thickness and flatness on first 5 sheets of each lot; perform impact test (drop ball) on one sample per pallet.
