The base requirement is simple geometry: add the panel edges that receive edgebanding, then multiply that length by the number of identical panels.
2 long edges = 2 × length
2 short edges = 2 × width
Total banding = edge length per panel × quantity × (1 + waste %)
The calculator converts the entered dimensions internally, applies the selected edge pattern, then returns the final requirement in both feet and metres.
A 24 × 30 in panel receives edgebanding on all four edges. Twenty identical panels are required, and the shop adds a 10% waste allowance.
- TRIMLeading and trailing trim consumes more banding than the finished panel perimeter alone.
- SETUPMachine setup, test pieces and colour or thickness changes can consume additional material.
- ROLLEnd-of-roll remnants may not be usable for the next job even when some material remains.
- REJECTDamaged banding, glue problems or reworked panels can increase actual consumption.
- SHOPUse your own historical waste rate when you have it. The calculator deliberately leaves this input under operator control.
Not every rectangular part gets a simple four-edge or two-edge pattern. A cabinet side may need one exposed long edge and one short edge; a shelf may need only the front edge.
Choose Custom edge count and enter how many long and short edges receive banding. Each count can be 0, 1 or 2.
