Temporary Toilet And Welfare Facilities On Site
This standard operating procedure governs the sourcing, placement, servicing, and removal of temporary toilet and welfare units at field installation sites. It ensures compliance with provincial health regulations, worker dignity, and operational continuity.
To define a repeatable workflow for provisioning clean, accessible, and serviced temporary toilet and welfare facilities at active field installation sites. Compliance with local health authority standards reduces downtime, prevents fines, and preserves crew morale in remote or transient work zones.
Applies to all field installation projects with an expected duration exceeding 4 hours and a workforce of 5 or more. Covers standard portable toilets, accessible/handicap units, and welfare trailers equipped with hand-washing stations. Excludes plumbing-connected permanent restrooms and facilities managed directly by general contractors on multi-trade sites.
- Treat all waste and chemical residues as biohazards. Wear nitrile gloves and splash goggles during any service or inspection task. Use spill kit absorbents if any chemical or effluent contact occurs.
- Use mechanical lifting aids (lift gate, pallet jack) for unit placement. Manual handling limit is 40 kg per person. Do not attempt to roll or tilt units on soft or uneven ground without a stabilised dolly.
- Review the Safety Data Sheet for the bio-gel deodoriser before handling. Store additives in a locked, ventilated cabinet away from food products and PPE.
- Do not block emergency access routes or fire hydrants. Place units at least 3 m away from overhead power lines and 6 m from any stormwater inlet.
