Material Overview & Common Uses

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) edgebanding tape is a thermoplastic edging material used to seal and protect the exposed edges of particleboard, MDF, plywood, and other panel products. It provides a durable, moisture-resistant, and aesthetically consistent finish that matches or contrasts with the panel face. Common applications include cabinet doors, drawer fronts, shelving, desktops, and commercial casework. In Canadian fabrication shops, PVC edgebanding is preferred for its balance of cost, impact resistance, and ease of application via hot-melt adhesive systems. Standard thicknesses range from 0.4 mm to 3.0 mm, with 0.4 mm and 1.0 mm being the most common for straight-line and contour applications respectively.
