Hot Work Fire Watch Log
Mandatory fire watch documentation for welding, cutting, grinding, brazing, and any operation producing open sparks or open flames. This log satisfies WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation Part 12 (Fire Prevention) and NFPA 51B requirements for continuous and post-work fire monitoring.
This fire watch log documents every hot work event from ignition to final clearance. It enforces the mandatory fire watch procedures required by NFPA 51B and WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation Part 12. The log captures pre-work hazard assessment, hourly monitoring checks, post-work fire watch (minimum 30 minutes), and supervisor sign-off. Using this log ensures audits are demonstrable and that spark-producing operations never run without a trained fire watcher stationed with appropriate extinguishing equipment.
- Combustible materials within 11 m (36 ft) of hot work area have been removed or covered with fire‑resistant blankets.
- Fire watcher is equipped with fire‑resistant clothing, eye protection, and a charged extinguisher (minimum 4‑A:40‑B:C rated) readily accessible.
- Hot work equipment (torch, regulator, hoses) inspected for leaks and damage; flashback arrestors installed.
- All nearby personnel have been notified; warning signs and barriers posted.
- If hot work is near combustible gas or vapour sources, an atmospheric test for LEL (< 10% LEL) has been performed and documented.

| [ ] Pass [ ] Fail | All walls, ceilings, and openings that could allow sparks to travel to adjacent spaces are sealed or monitored. | NFPA 51B (6.5) | _________________ |
| [ ] Pass [ ] Fail | Post‑work fire watch: continuous monitoring of hot work area and adjacent zones for at least 30 minutes after work stops. | NFPA 51B (5.4.8) | _________________ |
