Overview & Purpose

This inspection log ensures that track tension is checked and adjusted according to manufacturer specs (typically 2–4 inches of sag at mid-point of the track). Regular measurement prevents damage to rollers, sprockets, and idlers. All readings must be recorded in inches or millimeters and compared to the threshold range provided by the OEM.

Equipment & Safety Prerequisites
  • LOTOLock out engine before adjusting track tension. Engage safety locks on all hydraulic systems.
  • PPEWear heavy-duty gloves and safety glasses when working near high-pressure grease fittings or releasing track tension.

Inspection / Log Matrix

Status (P/F) Inspection Item / Task Tolerance / Threshold Actual Reading
[ ] Pass [ ] Fail Measure track sag at mid-point between front idler and carrier roller 2–4 in (50–100 mm) _________________
[ ] Pass [ ] Fail Inspect track for missing or broken bushings No missing or broken bushings _________________
[ ] Pass [ ] Fail Measure track rail width (pin-to-pin) ±1/8 in (3 mm) of OEM spec _________________
[ ] Pass [ ] Fail Check carrier roller condition (no flat spots, excessive wear) No flat spots; rubber surface height > 1/2 in (12 mm) _________________
[ ] Pass [ ] Fail Verify tension cylinder seals (no leaks) Zero external leakage _________________
