Overview & Purpose

This log provides a standardized daily record of key water chemistry parameters for commercial cooling tower systems. Conductivity, pH, temperature, and inhibitor residual are measured and compared against established thresholds to prevent scale formation, corrosion, and microbiological growth. Consistent data collection supports proactive treatment adjustments and regulatory compliance with local discharge permits. Any reading outside the acceptable range triggers a documented corrective action to protect equipment lifespan and system efficiency.

Equipment & Safety Prerequisites
  • LOTO Lockout/Tagout: Isolate cooling tower fan and recirculation pump before accessing water sump for manual sampling. Verify zero energy state.
  • CHEM Chemical Handling: Wear approved gloves, safety glasses, and face shield when handling corrosion inhibitor and biocide chemicals. Review SDS before use.
  • PPE Personal Protective Equipment: Hard hat, safety boots, high-visibility vest required in cooling tower vicinity. Hearing protection if fan is operational during sampling.
  • MET Meter Calibration: Conductivity meter and pH meter must be calibrated per manufacturer instructions within the last 24 hours. Document calibration on the back of this log.
